Hernando County is home to dozens of murals painted by local artists sharing their style and talent with all who visit and view them. From the small-town mural tour in Brooksville to the display of murals off of the Gulf in Hernando Beach, murals can be found all around the county! Blank walls turn to incredible artist canvases sharing stories of community, history, and what’s to come in the future here on our special Florida Adventure Coast.

Mural Sponsors: Anonymous donorLeah loves to paint floral patterns! An anonymous donor offered to sponsor a floral mural in Hernando County, and Leah was connected with Downtown Loser. This mural was created to spread rthe idea that we are all loved regardless of our color, age, past, etc.

Mural Sponsors: Lifeline University & Hernando County Fine Arts CouncilIn February 2024, Hernando County Government renamed “Kennedy Park” to “Coach Lorenzo Hamilton Sr. Park.” To further honor the life of Coach Hamilton, Lifeline University donated a mural to the park that was painted by local artist, Lakeema Matthew. The Arts Council was proud to sponsor this mural project through our Community Arts Grant program!

Mural Sponsors: Brooksville Main Street & Hernando County GovernmentAnother mural from the 6th round of the Mobile Mural program, “Family of Three” showcases one of Florida's iconic wildlife species - the Sandhill crane. Yasaman came all the way from Toronto, Canada to create this mural, making her the program’s first international artist! She pulled colors from the Hernando County logo (which also features a crane!) and from the Bandshell Stage, which it is located next to, to bring a cohesive look to Hernando Park.

Mural Sponsors : Brooksville Main Street & Christine WeeksThis interactive mural is a sentimental one for many reasons. It is the largest mural commissioned as part of Brooksville Main Street’s mobile mural program, and also serves as a tribute to the artist’s brother-in-law who was a big Beatles fan and played a Gibson guitar. The sheet music lines fade into a rainbow reminiscent of the yellow submarine artwork.

The vision was a classic Florida postcard-style mural that symbolized the great landmarks and activities our home is known for. The mural was painted in 2019. Local artists Joel Hernandez and Allisa Babor assisted Gary with the mural.

James Oleson is the son of the owner of Boyett’s Grove and his artistic talents can be seen all over the space. You can also see his Knight sculpture outside of Brooksville City Hall.
