About the Specialty License Plate Program
Florida offers over 100 different specialty license plates for various organizations in support of the causes they represent. The money raised from the sale of these license plates gets returned back to the county in which it was purchased. As our area’s designated arts organization, the Hernando County Fine Arts Council receives $20 for every purchase of a State of the Arts specialty license plate!
The State of the Arts specialty license plate was introduced by Florida State Legislature in 1994. It was designed by Florida-based artist, Stephen Kline. See more of his work here.
Get a State of the Arts tag for yourself or a loved one!
Want to purchase a State of the Arts tag? Just visit your local tag office and let them know that you would like to replace your current license plate with a specialty plate. You do not have to wait for your annual registration renewal to switch!
Each plate costs $20 annually, in addition to the regular registration fee. For each plate purchased, a $20 tax-deductible donation is made directly to the Hernando County Fine Arts Council. You are also able to personalize your plate with up to seven characters by paying an additional fee.
Additionally, FLHSMV offers the specialty license plate gift certificate program, so anyone can give the gift of a State of the Arts tag. Here in Florida, most registrations are renewed on the birth date of the registrant, so the gift certificates are a great and unique birthday gift!
