Mermaid Statue “Nakoma” Unveiling

Join us at Veterans Park to meet the newest mermaid statue on the Mermaid Tale Trail, Nakoma!

Nakoma, meaning “Great Spirit” celebrates the Seminole Tribe that once inhabited Brooksville and the surrounding areas, featuring symbols and patterns from Seminole arts and crafts, as well as Florida wildlife. She was painted by local artists, Rita Taverni and Shaun Stranger, and was sponsored by Commissioner Brian Hawkins.
