Call for Authors : Booksville Festival

Business Name : Booksville Festival

Project Description : The inaugural Booksville Festival celebrates all the ways literature touches our lives. From author readings, book sales, games, and activities based on beloved books, to character and spelling bee contests - there is something for everyone.

The Booksville Festival is seeking authors for several activities during the event! Visit www.booksville.org or click each opportunity for more information!

  • Featured Authors
Featured authors will be given a 15-minute window for reading and/or audience questions. Authors can decide to also set up a vendor space at the festival at no cost. Vendor spaces are FREE for artists!

  • Poetry Contest : Deadline September 15
Are you a poet but no one knows it? Submit your poem to the Booksville Festival poetry contest! All eligible entries will be included in a poetry anthology that will be released at the Booksville Festival. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in both Youth (age 11-17)  and Adult categories.

  • Brooksville Folktales : Deadline September 15
Contestants will be featured in a short story anthology about Brooksville folklore. The subject for all submissions should be fictional Brooksville tales. Maybe it is a made-up version of the town. Perhaps an urban legend.

  • Kids Book Art Contest
Kids, we're looking for you to draw a picture based on your favorite book. All submissions will be incorporated into promotional materials for the Booksville Festival!

  • Booksville Hosts
Share your love of reading with Hernando County, and be included on the map of Hernando County Booksville Bookshops. Brick-and-mortar businesses are encouraged to sell one or more books in their location.
